The
original kitchen lacked storage and useful
counter space. The dark wood cabinets,
florescent lighting and tile countertops gave
the kitchen and house a dated look. The newly
redesigned kitchen addressed the two major
requests of the owner: additional storage and
better, more useful counter space. The decision
to eliminate the seldom-used double ovens
added extra counter area next to the range
and helped to open up the entire kitchen. A
wrap-around counter maximized the kitchen's
storage and added more area for entertaining
and food presentation. Recessed lights replaced
the florescent tubes and then task and spot
lighting was added to the work areas. Two
pendant lights added a more contemporary
feel and touch. Finally, light maple cabinets and
dark granite countertops gave the kitchen more
drama and contrast. The new kitchen provides
a beautiful focal point to the entire house and
adds to its overall value. Click on Example
